Overview
Modern Campus is the university’s content management system (CMS). Using Modern Campus, partners can make changes to their owned sections of the website and create new pages for their department.

Training and User Levels
SMC offers online training for Modern Campus on Canvas. You can request access to the Canvas training by filling out this training request form. This training will equip you with all the tools and knowledge needed to create, manage and update webpages in Modern Campus. You will not be granted access to Modern Campus until you have completed this training.
Once you’ve been added to the course, you can find it by logging into Canvas using your Chapman credentials.

You can access modern campus with this link and log in with your Chapman login credentials. You must complete the Modern Campus CMS Canvas training and be granted access before you are able to log in.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How do I make a change to my department’s page content?
A: Access to Modern Campus to edit pages requires a specific business case to be trained and given access. Once you complete the CMS Canvas training, you will be granted access to the appropriate pages. In this training, you will learn how to make all content changes Web Contributors have access to.
Q: Can I make changes to a faculty member’s profile?
A: Changes to faculty profiles should be directed to the Office of Faculty Advancement. They can be contacted by email at facultyadvancement@chapman.edu. Once the request has been completed, please allow 24 hours for the website to reflect any changes.
Q: Why do I see “HTTP Status 500 – Internal Server Error” when I try to log in?
A: If you are seeing this message, it means that you have not been granted access to Modern Campus.

Q: What pages are able to be edited in Modern Campus?
A: Modern Campus only hosts pages within chapman.edu. Other Chapman-affiliated pages (i.e. brand.chapman.edu, digitalsignage.chapman.edu, etc.) are not editable in Modern Campus.
Q: Can I see examples of the different page layouts and widgets?
A: Yes! You can view all layouts and widgets available in Modern Campus by visiting our Modern Campus Modular Templates and Component Examples page. You can click on each item and view what a complete version of that layout or widget will look like.
Q: Can I make changes to how a component looks?
A: No. All components are coded with preset sizes, fonts and colors. Whatever options you are given in the component editor are the ones you can choose
Q: I want to make a change to my page, but I don’t have the right access. What do I do?
A: There are some changes that users cannot make on their own, such as moving a page to a different folder or renaming a page URL. To make this change, please fill out the SMC Modern Campus Support request form. Once you submit this form, a member of the Digital Marketing Team will review your request and follow up.
